本川越駅にある川越プリンスホテルに宿泊しました。(2025/5/4-5)
初日は、徒歩で「蔵造りの街並み」、「時の鐘」、「菓子屋横丁」を観光しました。人手は多く、賑わっていました。時の鐘は、今でも4回/日(6:00、12:00、15:00、18:00)に鳴るそうです。私は聞きませんでしたが。菓子屋横丁では、妻と娘が「芋けんぴ」、「焼き芋ブリュレ」、「いちご飴」を味わっていました。さつま芋の料理が目につきました。「川越いも」が有名なのですね。鰻の店も目につきました。
初日の観光を終え、予約した居酒屋へ17:00に入店しました。そこで、寿司など食べた後、2件目に飛び込みで入ろうとしましたが、3軒くらい満席で断られました。この街の飲食店はとても繁盛しているようです。
川越プリンスホテルは、小綺麗で清潔感のあるホテルでした。水のペットボトルが人数分ありました。コーヒーメーカーもありました。朝食はブッフェ形式で、オムレツ、カレーがとても美味しかったです。
2日目は、まずバスで「川越氷川神社」へ行きました。縁結びの神様とのことです。ご神木があり、手で触りながらその周りを廻り、パワーをいただきました。その後、徒歩で「成田山川越別院」、「喜多院」まで行きました。喜多院には、春日局化粧の間、家光公誕生の間がありました。お参りを済ませた後、駅まで850mの道のりを徒歩で帰りました。駅でランチをとろうと３軒ほどまわりましたが、どの店も行列ができており、並んでレストランへ入りました。この街の飲食店は、とても繁盛していると感じました。

Stay at Kawagoe Prince Hotel
We stayed at Kawagoe Prince Hotel near Honkawagoe station (May-4 to 5, 2025).
1st day, we saw “Kawagoe Warehouse District”, “the time bell tower”, and “the alley lined with shops selling cheap sweets” by walk. The place was crowded with people.The time bell tower seems to ring 4 times per day (6:00、12:00、15:00、18:00) now. Though I didn’t hear. At the alley lined with shops selling cheap sweets, my wife and daughter tasted a sweet potato dough cake, a baked sweet potato brûlée, and a strawberry candy. The sweet potato dish caught my attention. Kawagoe sweet potato seems to be famous. Eel, too.
After finished 1st day sightseeing, we went into a tavern at 17:00 which we booked. We ate sushi there and tried to go into 2nd tavern without reservation. But we were rejected 3 times due to no vacancy. Restaurants in Kawagoe seem to be very prosperous.
Kawagoe prince hotel was beautiful and clean. There were plastic bottles of water for the number of people. There was a coffee maker, too. Breakfast was buffet style and the omelets and curry were very good.
On 2nd day, we took a bus to Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine. It is said to be the god of matchmaking. There was sacred trees, which we touched with our hand and circled around it to receive power. After that, we walked to “Naritasan Kawagoe Betsuin Temple” and “Kitain Temple”. In Kitain Temple, there are “Kasuganotsubone makeup room” and ”the Room of the Birth of Lord Iemitsu”. After praying, we walked 850m back to the station. We tried 3 times to get into restaurants, but there was a line at every restaurant. So we waited in line and ate at the restaurant. Restaurants in Kawagoe seem to be very prosperous.
