[Travel Log] A 2-Day, 1-Night Trip to “Taberu Oyado Hamanoyu” in Izu Inatori! Enjoying Luxury Rooms & Exquisite Seafood (Aug.7-8, 2026)
From August 7th, I went on a 2-day, 1-night trip to “Taberu Oyado Hamanoyu,” a popular ryokan in Izu Inatori!
The main goals of this trip were without a doubt the private open-air bath in our room and the delicious dinner. I spent a blissful time forgetting the busyness of daily life, soaking in top-tier hot springs and indulging in amazing meals, so here is my trip report!
Comfortable Access on the Odoriko Express! Heading to Izu Inatori
For transportation, I took the Limited Express Odoriko No. 9 (departing Tokyo Station at 12:00 and arriving at Izu Inatori Station at 14:25). Gazing at the Izu ocean views from the train window, we arrived at Izu Inatori Station in no time. On the way, I even spotted the Tamanoyu hot spring source tower at Izu Atagawa Station.
Upon arriving at the station, the hotel’s shuttle bus, which I had reserved in advance, was there to pick us up. The polite service from the staff heightened my excitement right from the start.
Our Room: Luxury Plan “D-2 Type (Room with Open-Air Bath)”
This time, I splurged and booked the Luxury Plan “D-2 Type” room.
After checking in and being shown to our room, I immediately headed to the public bath on the 8th floor. The spring quality is a sodium-calcium chloride spring, and the water was beautifully clear. Looking out at the ocean and Izu Oshima from the open-air bath, I washed away the fatigue of the journey. The waves were rough that day with powerful sounds, making me feel that Typhoons 13–15 down south might be affecting the waters here.
Back in the room, I tried the equally tempting private open-air bath! It was such a luxury to soak in the hot spring whenever and as much as I wanted, listening to the sound of the ocean waves… Soaking right after checking in instantly melted away my travel fatigue.
High Expectations for Dinner! An Ise Spiny Lobster Mishap and an Even Greater Satisfaction
Living up to its name “Taberu Oyado” (An Inn for Eating), the main event at Hamanoyu is dinner.
Actually, due to the recent extreme heat, they mentioned it was difficult to procure the Ise spiny lobster I was looking forward to. Although I felt a little disappointed at first, every seasonal fish dish provided instead was absolutely exquisite!
The fresh, fatty fish dishes were served in generous portions, making for a deeply satisfying dinner. A blessing in disguise caused by the intense heat, it really showed the depth and quality of Hamanoyu’s seafood offerings. They never disappoint!
Day 2: Off to Atagawa Banana & Alligator Garden!
The next day, after checking out of the inn, we moved to Atagawa and headed to “Atagawa Banana & Alligator Garden,” a place I had been curious about for a while.
There were plenty of highlights to enjoy inside the park:
• Animals: Alligators, Manatees, Red pandas, Giant tortoises, Giant salamanders, etc.
• Plants: Orchids, Carnivorous plants, Bromeliads, Tropical water lilies, Wild orchids, Giant water lilies, Ferns, Tropical flowering trees, Houseplants, Bananas, etc.
Watching the impressive alligators, rare tropical plants, and adorable animals, it was a spot that even adults can thoroughly enjoy!
After spending about an hour looking around, we enjoyed a bottle of “Izunokuni Beer Pilsner (370 yen)” from the station shop and boarded the 12:36 Odoriko No. 4 from Atagawa Station to head home.
Conclusion: The Best Parts of Travel are Onsen and Great Food!
Looking back on this trip, the satisfaction from the open-air bath and dinner—the two things I was looking forward to most—exceeded my expectations.
Time spent in a luxurious environment, delicious seafood, and relaxing hot springs. It turned out to be the ultimate Izu trip that nourished both mind and body.
If you want to enjoy exquisite cuisine and spectacular open-air hot springs in Izu Inatori, be sure to check out “Taberu Oyado Hamanoyu”!
That’s all.
